This grape, produced as a dry white wine, is an underdog. Palomino, or ‘Fransdruif’ is typically used in sherry style wines in Spain. South Africa used to make a lot of sherry for the UK back in the early 1900’s and we also used Palomino as a base wine for brandy. No one raves too much about it because it does not have loud aromatic flavours. But it has a lot of structure and salinity and character. And that is what we like about it. Try it. We dear you.
