City on a Hill Red is a blend of vineyards planted in schist-rich soils between Riebeek Kasteel and Malmesbury, and on decomposed granite in the Paardeberg. Once again the soils are the focus and
not so much the varieties.
The focus of this wine is in its structure. Schist and granite combine to produce tannins that are dense but fine and shows an elegant and less powerful style. This is an ever developing wine and new vineyards that thrive in the Swartland climate will be added to this wine to better express the area.
This wine will develop in the coming years and will reward cellaring.
